For the hungry soul, food and travel go hand in hand. Feed your wanderlust and thrill your taste buds when you visit Singapore. A popular world-city, Singapore receives tourists throughout the year who are as much attracted to its various sights and sounds as they are to the food scene. Cheap flights tickets from Delhi to Singapore are available, making it easy to land up there. Once you reach this island paradise, a lot can be packed into the itinerary depending on your preferences.

From street food to fine-dining, diverse world cuisines to local specialties – there is a lot to savour. Events are held round the year to celebrate the diversity of fares available in Singapore. Plan ahead to attend them during your visit here. Listed below are a few food events held in Singapore at different times of the year. If you are a foodie, you have come to the right place!

Savor – For epicureans, the Savor food festival revolves around gourmet, wine and Christmas. From gourmet markets selling hard-to-find ingredients to meeting celebrity chefs up close – this outdoor food festival packs quite a punch! Sample vino wines and relish suckling pigs.  You can also attend cooking workshops. Entry to this event is free of cost.

Singapore Food Festival – The Singapore Food Festival usually takes place during the month of July. With pop-up stalls and hotspot outlets, the focus is on local food. The signature event of this food festival is STREAT. It brings together Singaporean food prepared not only by street-hawkers but also by local chefs. The price points differ accordingly. Street food in Singapore is always served clean and fresh. No matter which stalls you wish to check out, you are guaranteed a good meal. Both Mod-Sin (Modern Singaporean) dishes and Peranakan Tok Panjang (Peranakan cuisines served on special occasions) specialties are served up with great flare. Sample the ‘kimchi popiah’ or spring rolls and the coffee pork burger. The food is served in a communal style, often on long tables in keeping with local culinary traditions.

World Gourmet Summit – An event attended by world famous sommeliers, master chefs and Michelin star winners – the World Gourmet Summit is held in Singapore towards the end of March. From wine-tastings to dinner collaborations – only the best chefs from around the world will rustle up your meal here. The meals are paired with the best wines to enhance the experience of fine dining. Meet and greet luminaries from the constellation of celebrity chefs. In the past, this event has been attended by the likes of the Roca Brothers of El Celler de Can Roca (a three-Michelin starred restaurant from Catalonia) in Spain. Expect the very best!

Singapore Restaurant Week – This week-long festival is held twice a year. Check ahead for dates to make sure that you can turn up for one of them. Cheap flight tickets from Delhi to Singapore will help you attend the Singapore Restaurant Week. Enjoy a three-course meal at any of the participating restaurants. Held across the island, Senso and Xperience Restaurant are two of the popular eateries which you can consider dining at. Serving great portions at prices which are less than the original, these restaurants tend to fill up fast. It is always a good idea to make reservations well in advance to avoid disappointment. If you enjoy restaurant-hopping, this is just the event for you.

What is travel without some eating out? Vacations are times when over-considered diet plans needs must be set aside. Food festivals in Singapore will help you do just that. Bon Appetit!
